Funnyman Devin Henderson joins our show for the very first time this week, and it is truly an honor!

Now Devin and his bride have been married for ten years. And, while many people say it’s the first year of marriage that is the hardest, Devin contends that the most difficult part is actually the first ten!

But, in truth, his wife makes him a better person. She encourages him to do better things. For instance, she suggested that they start eating better.

So, he’s made a change for the better: Better ingredients. Better pizza. Papa John’s! Now THAT’S eating better! What can be better than baked dough dipped in garlic butter sauce as an appetizer?!Devin Henderson

Now, Devin and his wife have four children… all girls.

I have four sons. How dangerous is that? Two guys who are comedians, and who are friends having four children each – four boys and four girls. It’s four matches made in heaven!

Now, my oldest, Ethan, is in college. Devin’s oldest daughter is nine. So, by the time my son matures, they should be pretty compatible!

A while back, Devin actually tried adoption, but they couldn’t find anyone who would take all four of their girls.

What’s crazy is that they are expecting yet another baby! I can’t wait to hear what new comedic material they birth in the next few months!

Earlier this summer, Ken Davis, John Branyan, David Pendleton, Tim Hawkins, and I took an adventure together in the mountains of Colorado. It was supposed to be a two-mile hike. But, after getting lost, it turned into more of a half-marathon.

Among other mishaps, we were mauled by a marmot (which is a very rare and dangerous occurrence in Colorado).

The hike would have been an enjoyable success… had we not taken Ken’s “short cut”.

Remember the opening credits to the TV show “Little House on the Prairie”? Remember the moment when each of the girls were running joyfully down the hillside with uplifting music filling the air?

This was just the opposite. Imagine five adult men scrambling down a hillside, screaming with the horrifying music of the movie “SAW” blaring through our ears!

Somehow, instead of heading back to our base location, we wound our way around the mountain. At the apex of our misadventure, Ken – our fearless leader – told us,

“Okay guys. I don’t know exactly where we are, but I do know three things: 1) We are in the mountains. 2) We are going to follow this stream. 3) We are going to go down.

All he knew was that somehow, at some point in the world’s geography, this stream had to end, and somewhere near that end should be civilization.

I don’t know if there are any “big picture spiritual parallels” to our adventure. It did make me wonder why God would have forsaken me at one point… especially near the water. Even Ken realized that there was a moment where we realized that only God was in control. But, one thing is for certain… we will never hike Tin Cup Pass in quite the same way again!
