Dear Readers,

I am so happy to tell you that not only my panel but, I believe, every or nearly every panel and keynote that was recorded has been posted, FOR FREE, on SoundCloud. Our panel was called, Rendering the World Strange: Folk Piety and Imagination.

Jess, Kevin, and I got together some months ago to create this panel. We saw a need to talk about how liturgy influences the imagination of the artist, how a desire for magic, for the occult can actually lead us to the Church, and how our modern epistemology and metaphysics have turned us away from the faith of our forebears and away from silence and contemplation.

In the process of our conversations, Jess, as I explain in the talk, demanded that I talk about how the Eucharist is a Faërie Road. Is it? Well, you’ll just have to listen to our panel to find out. The entire panel is worth listening to, but if you’re just interested in mine it starts at about the 50:08 marker, Kevin’s begins at the 25:48 marker, and Jess kicks us off. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think. Also, I want to say a huge thank you to Karl Persson who was press-ganged into service as our moderator at the very last minute.

Sincerely,
David
