Chick-Fil-A Kerfuffle and The Shut-down approach of calling people Prideful

The Chick-Fil-A Kerfuffle about Gay Marriage has surfaced, what to me, is a greater worry – the tendency of religious people declare those who think differently as “prideful, arrogant and ahistorical”.

The argument goes, “how dare you think you can suggest a change in thinking when for all these years faithful people have thought such and such”.

I raise this issue in response to the owner of Chick-Fil-A on my radio show this week.

The show airs live Wednesday’s from 10-11:30am and archives are at Doug Pagitt Radio.

The only ones I see as prideful are the ones bragging about supporting CFA. Basically, “I support straight-only marriage and free speech and you don’t. Boom!” The same attitude I had when I used to be conservative.

Would these same mayors attack a muslim that said what D. Cathy said? Oh, and by the way, islam calls for the death of homosexuals. So why don’t all these liberals go out and attack ANY Muslim businesses that are in their cities!!!!!! Liberals want us to believe the way they do OR ELSE. You people are confused and without any moral compass – fine. Leave Christians the hell alone!!!

As soon as someone shows scripturally that God condones or blesses homosexual behavior this issue goes away. It’s not about “how dare you think you can suggest a change in thinking when for all these years faithful people have thought such and such” it’s “ok if millennia of accepted scriptural interpretation around sexuality is wrong then show us where God says something different.” And if you cannot then you most certainly are “prideful, arrogant and ahistorical”.
