How I Found God After Leaving Religion

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. - Alan WattsAfter having left religion, I found God. Let me be clear here as not to confuse the pop-culture appropriation of hipster spirituality so prevalent today; wherein, someone re-organizes their linguistic choices and creates new aphorisms like: I left religion but gained a relationship (and etc.). For me, leaving organized religion, in this case, Christianity, wasn't just leaving some of … [Read more...]

(De)Constructing Hell [The End of Metaphysics Series]

Žižek, “See you in hell or in communism!”                                        According to Carl Gustav Jung, hell represents, among every culture, the disturbing aspect of the collective unconscious. Imagine if there was a place where all the evil people would go to get what they deserved? Imagine this place was filled with pain, torture, hatred and all the things these evil people stood for and imposed on the world. Imagine that there was this leader who embodied all of  the things we hate … [Read more...]

Truth Without God (The End of Metaphysics Series)

At the fundamental level, quantum mechanics authoritatively and indisputably states that there exists no objective reality that would explain all subjective viewpoints as its reflections. - Landau  In a world where we recognize that God is not a sovereign being, is a world where we realize that freedom has no limits. Now, for many this is already an issue, because the general popularized view that is irresponsibly borrowed from a historical religious hangover, is that to be human is to … [Read more...]

Did Jesus Struggle With Racism?

For centuries now, the divinity of Jesus Christ has been under fire. Whether this man from Nazareth was actually God, or was it all just a literary plot to perpetuate one of the largest world religions today, these are the questions that are currently being asked across many platforms today. Honestly, I think it's the wrong issue to be focused on. Whether Jesus was divine or not, or fully-divine, or fully-human, or whether you can have coffee without caffeine or not, these questions, at the e … [Read more...]

THE SHOE FETISH: THE EVIL OF ALTRUISM

there was a woman who had a shoe fetish. no matter what, she had to have shoes. couldn't do without them. according to karl marx, the fetish is creating meaning or giving meaning to a meaningless object. trying to fill in a gap rather than allowing it to be. we live in a society built upon an addiction toward meaning, toward filling the gaps. in a simple sense, when your boss calls you up to come in early because your colleague called off sick, that is a filling in of the gap.Christ becomes … [Read more...]

Reply to Kurt Willems on, “Is the church still emerging?”

After leaving the following comment on his blog, I wanted to follow up on this important question:An Emergence authority like Phyllis Tickle would say definitively yes. It's the topic of her latest book Emergence Christianity http://amzn.com/0801013550 On Patheos, Kurt Willems has recently brought up the issue about emerging churches here and here, which struck me as an emergent Christian. What does the adjective mean? My opinion is not authoritative, nor definitive, since this community h … [Read more...]

Life beyond the belief meter…

One wonders if there isn't one of these parked at the entrance of " heaven's gate ", or on the front porch of that mansion with many rooms. We are led...maybe not led, coerced into believing that an absolute positive outcome on the belief meter is what gets you " in."What's the pass mark going to be? I don't know. I would assume 50% would just being lowering the bar to much. Heaven forbid, that low, someone could trip over it and accidentally fall in. But, I'm sure you can imagine … [Read more...]

(G)od With(Out) Religion OR The God Who BeCame an Atheist

There is this moment of intrinsic subversion to exclusivity in the Jesus Narrative. But what is moment, if not something captured in and by time. An idea bound and contingent in space, a dependent object that relies upon its own ontological teleology. Meaning that the moment itself finds its purpose in being that very moment, and the events that transpire are then transcendentalized by their very innate placement within the narrative. A few of Jesus friends encounter people who dont … [Read more...]
