Piercing the Veil to Love

Piercing the Veil to Love April 28, 2016

Maryam Hand-Piercing the Veils

One of our long time community members, Maryam Hand, has written a book of poetry called Piercing the Veil.

We’re overjoyed to report her book won Semi-Finalist in the Finishing Line Press 2015 New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition!

To celebrate, Maryam offered this poem to share with you today.

Laila

Far beneath your full faced glorious moon,
lovers search interior fields to catch the scent of roses.
I come to You dressed in bridal veils.
You wrap me inside your woolen cloak, close
to your heart and cover my shyness.
I open to your secret. Your white fire purifies
my veils of separation; the door of your heart
opens a wide gateway.
You carry me to meadows of precious ripe dates.
We taste, break the long fast, giddy,
now veiled in Light, on this holy night of Laila.
