This is a one man theological dictionary by Christian theologian Anthony C. Thiselton. It covers topics from “Abba” to “Zwingli” and everything in between. There are over 600 articles and they vary in length from a paragraph to 20, 000 words. Its a testimony to the breadth and erudition of Thiselton’s own knowledge of a variety of areas in biblical studies, philosophy, hermeneutics, historical theology, and systematic theology. I particularly liked the biographical articles on contemporary figures like Miroslav Volf, N.T. Wright, John Webster, Rowan Williams, and Nicholas Wolterstorff. There are some big and juicy articles on “God, Trinity” and “Holy Spirit” which are good digests of complex issues. On the whole, a good reference resources to use, I’ve already cited materials on “Critical Realism” in stuff I’m working on, and I’ll definitely use this in the future. It is also a good warm up to Thiselton’s forthcoming Systematic Theology.
