A (very) short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald in which the Virgin Mary lights a woman’s cigarette…. Gentle, with a real sense of the littleness of the comforts and consolations we find in life. The votives so small they’ll burn out overnight. Link possibly via TKB? Wait no, it was via First Thoughts.
