Quote of the Day (Ian Ramjohn)

“I think the “Pro-Life” movement has little interest in what happens to people after birth” (Ian Ramjohn).
Another blog I read regularly, Notes From Off-Center, also discusses this issue and the article that sparked the above quote.

I am one of a very few liberal, atheist ‘pro-lifers’ (don’t like the term because I have no desire to lump myself in with the fundies). Of course, I support universal healthcare, so this particular argument against anti-abortionism doesn’t apply to me.Incidentally, I’m a weird liberal atheist in at least one more way: I oppose most forms of gun control.

Thanks for mentioning all this. I suspect that there are lots of people who do not fit the stereotypes of ‘atheist’ or ‘Christian’, ‘liberal’ or ‘conservative’, but in fact have views that do not line up with any of the usual party lines. It is a good sign of independent thinking when you are able to do that! :)
