Quote of the Day (Richard G. Colling)

“Unless we are actively looking or listening for something, there is a real and distinct possibility it will simply fail to reach our conscious awareness, at least not at the levels that are desired” (Richard G. Colling, Random Designer: Created from Chaos to Connect with the Creator (Bourbonnais, IL: Browning, 2004).

I love this quote. But it’s a double edge sword . . . .On the one hand it narrows the window of opportunity for discovery (the human attention span being what it is) . . . . and on the other, it essentially guarantees that we won’t see what we don’t want to see (which is a fundamentalist dream, of course).By the way, they’ve come up with a name for that phenomenon, where the efforts employed toward the suppression of information inevitably result in that same information spreading like wildfire. The Streissand Effect (google it):)peaceÓ
