In response to the suicide of a bullied gay teenager in Indiana, a project telling stories of those who have survived such mistreatment when they were younger and gone on to be happy has been started, emphasizing “It Gets Better” (HT Pharyngula):
But as Jen McCreight shared, you may not be able to get cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles on them.
If you are reading this and have been a victim of bullying and discrimination for any reason, let me add my voice to those of others in the video series I’ve linked to: You should choose to live, to survive, to believe that it gets better. Because it does. And you make your own cupcakes. (In fact, then it not only gets better for you, but you bring joy to those around you too).
