Ken Pulliam Passed Away

I just learned from John Loftus that Ken Pulliam, whose blog Why I De-Converted From Evangelical Christianity many of you know, passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He will be missed.

Maybe Loftus's "Is Dead" is a bit blunt, but I'd guess that Pulliam would have preferred "died" to the euphemistic "passed away"–which smacks of Christian Science.

Christian Science? I'm not aware of any such connotations. It is just a euphemism in general use in the English language, and not used only by a particular religious tradition or by religious people in general for that matter.

That is really sad to hear. Ken's blog was one of my favorites. I will miss it.

Anyway, Cheryl wrote "passed away." That's then the right term for JFM to have used, and other James shouldn't have indulged his prejudices.

I am really sorry to hear that. He seemed to be a really sincere, respectful man. My best wishes go out to his family and loved ones.

"Passed away" is a perfectly acceptable euphemism for "died." So sad to hear about Ken today. He was a gracious man. I read his blog every day and we were friends on Facebook. We had the same political views (libertarian), and I don't find many freethinking people persuaded in that direction. Good guy. I'm miss him very much. My condolences to the family.
