Mary Magdalene Resources

Anthony LeDonne mentioned on his blog that he has a new book coming out: The Wife of Jesus: Ancient Texts and Modern Scandals. I think the cover, with a woman whose face is obscured, is very clever.

Mark Mattison has made an interlinear version of the Gospel of Mary available on the Gospel of Thomas web site. It includes not just an interlinear but also a translation and indexes.

Please note that the Gospel of Mary for which Mattison has provided this resource should not be confused with the “Gospel of Jesus' Wife” fragment which made headlines recently.

Of related interest, Tony Burke continues to blog about less well-known Christian apocrypha, ones that didn't make it into his new book, Secret Scriptures Revealed: A New Introduction to the Christian Apocrypha.

Thanks for the link James, I was quite happy with the cover art too. I’ve had… er… mixed results on this front.

My book weighs the arguments for and against a wife of Jesus (some of my conclusions were surprising to me). I also discuss why the topic is so married to scandal in the first place. I really enjoyed writing it. Nothing like I’ve ever written before.

Married to scandal – what a great pun! :-)
