Rogue Moon, by Algis Budrys, 1960. It explores the matter of the transporter in a strange and disturbing science-fictional context. It impressed me when I read it some years ago, and I’m not alone: it just missed out on a Hugo — to A Canticle for Leibowitz.
Curse this Internet! It, not procrastination, is the thief of time. I want to post a few words of comment montioning an old sf story, but am I absolutely sure I remember the title right? MUST check it, because after all it’s so easy to do. In the old days, people got away with not getting things right, because it took so long to look them up. But now there’s no excuse, and you get the full data, and also find out who got the Hugo instead… Which is not all that bad, honestly.
Brad Delong has a regular feature “Noted for your procrastination” with links to all kinds of things to waste your time on. That title ought to be used more widely.
