Come Join The Fun

Christian Piatt shared the above example of poor Bible camp sign placement in a recent post, which was mostly a collection of inappropriate church signs full of double entendre. One can explore the mixed message in the sign above on multiple levels. Many churches seem to be lifeless. Often our activities are not fun, even when they could be, because we insist on going about them in traditional ways. And so it is always worth asking the question: how might we alter what we do and how we do it, as a preferable option to changing our invitation to read “join the dead and dying”?

An old church out in the country is actually a lot of fun, until you quit believing in the sermon. And then you’re out of the fun.

“I know what you’re thinking, ’cause right now I’m thinking the same thing. Actually, I’ve been thinking it ever since I got here: ‘Why, oh why, didn’t I take the Blue pill?’” ~Cypher (The Matrix, 1999)
