One of my favorite pieces by one of my favorite composers, who died 39 years ago today.
On this day in 1974, Kurt Atterberg, one of my favorite composers, passed away. Since I recently shared his “Sinfonia Funebra” which might be more appropriate to the occasion, I’m sharing his Symphony No.8 which I have not shared previously.
One of the symphonies by one of my favorite composers which I’ve listened to the least often -having listened to it again today, I honestly have no idea why I haven’t listened to it more often. It was apparently uploaded to YouTube recently, and now I’ve shared it here for your listening pleasure!
Another recording of my favorite piece of music has appeared on YouTube, Kurt Atterberg’s Second Symphony. The opening and closing sections of the second movement take my breath away.
