1. You can join the ever-so-awesome Brian McLaren and Tripp Fuller in Section VI, Track 8, “A New WAY for a New Day,” as they explore options for people who care about faith but are alienated from traditional institutions and doctrines. Tripp Fuller, self-described theo-nerd, is co-host of the famous Homebrewed Christianity podcasts. Brian McLaren is the renowned and beloved author, activist, and emerging church pioneer who brought us “A Generous Orthodoxy,” “Why Did Jesus, Moses, the Buddha, and Mohammed Cross the Road?” and other progressive Christian classics.

2. You can join the storytellers, artists, activists, filmmakers, performance artists, and other cultural creatives as they listen to the sessions going on around the conference and create new ways of expressing what it is that they are all pointing toward. Popular philosophy-religious studies professor Zach Simpson conducts and coordinates the creativity (and herds the cats) in Section 4’s Track 1.

3. Here’s the problem: There are so many incredible presenters in cutting-edge tracks, that it’s difficult to pinpoint one or two. There’s Michael Dowd leading a session on “The Sacred Side of Science,” there’s Catherine Keller on “Entangled Difference,” Marjorie Suchocki on “Film and Hope,” Jay McDaniel on “Just Peacemaking,” Malcolm Potts on “Population and Family Planning,” Dacia Narvaez on “Moral Wisdom and Development,” Michael Lerner on “Judaism and the Environment,” … We could go on, but the best thing to do is just start paging through the tracks yourself. If you’re looking for a particular speaker or subject, you can use the PandoPopulus.com search box at the bottom of the page.

4. Actually, you don’t even need to register for this part, our spectacular evening plenaries are free, so if you’re short on cash, just come anyway. At 7pm on Thursday through Saturday, you can hear three of the world’s most significant environmentalists speak on new ways to think about civilization: American activist Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org; Indian activist Vandana Shiva, of the International Forum on Globalization; and Chinese activist Sheri Liao, the most important environmentalist you hadn’t heard of until now.

5. Not only that, we also have a special Saturday-only Pando Populus choose-your-own-sessions option – it is free for students for as long as the scholarships last, and $29 for everyone else. In addition to the morning and evening plenaries, you get to choose your own sessions at 11am, 2pm, and 4pm from a variety of subjects:

Joerg Rieger (of Occupy Religion fame) and Philip Clayton will be hosting “From Unrestrained Capitalism to Government for the Common Good,” John Bielenberg will be hosting “Design for Social Innovation,” Wes Jackson will be hosting “New Roots for Agriculture,” Mary Evelyn Tucker and Brian Swimme will be hosting “Journey of the Universe,” Brian McLaren & Tripp Fuller will be hosting their “New Day” sessions, and the choices go on.

Thanks to a generous donor, scholarships are now available so that students may attend free!

Go to PandoPopulus.com/conference to register before May 15!
