Silent Night w/ Walter Cronkite

My daily reading for all things Libertarian comes from LRC. I noticed today an interesting post referencing the Mo-Tab and a new CD/DVD collection based on the oft-quoted story of soldiers in WWII from opposing sides coming together to celebrate Christmas. (Could someone take the time to verify the historicity of this story? If it’s coming from the church, you can’t blame me for being a little bit skeptical…).

I haven’t heard it yet, but mine is on the way.

Can’t say as I’ve any idea where the idea comes from but I can say that Paul McCartney did a music video with the same premise. So, probably not an FPR that Mormons have the monopoly on.

  • Matt W.

Whoops, that was the crappy american distributor websitye, this is the good webiste:

The idea that soldiers from opposing sides have joined in caroling, or at least serenaded each other, is quite true. I don’t know about this particular case, though.

Maybe you should be more skeptical of the fact that the story is coming from CBS’ own Cronkite rather than the Church.

    Yes, the story is true.
