We are very pleased to welcome Vine-Ripe Tomato as a guest blogger for the next few weeks at FPR. Vine-Ripe Tomato is an organic farmer and sometime horse trainer in the South. S/he is also a very nice person who will undoubtedly have something interesting to say. Stay tuned! … [Read more...]

“Chinese Democracy”

That is the name of the Guns 'N Roses album that has been in the works for the past 10+ years. Axel Rose wants to absolutely perfect the sound before he allows it to be released. It is aptly named as a sort of idealistic goal which we hope is around the corner, but may never actually come. Basically that is what we are doing here. We are perfecting a number of posts right now which will soon be released. Hopefully it won't take 10 years, but then again I doubt it will be as good as GNR. … [Read more...]

Welcoming TT

Dear Blog World, I am very pleased to be a part of this merger and hope that all my wildest dreams for it will come true. Basically, FPR can now claim to be the biggest Bible and Religion wonkfest in the bloggernacle. I have always admired the intellectual energy of those who blog here and am grateful for the opportunity to work with them. Love, TT (The Blogger Formerly Known as TrailerTrash) … [Read more...]

Mergers and Acquisitions

We here at Faith-Promoting Rumor are pleased to announce a merger with the folks at Urban Mormonism. They have agreed to join forces with us here in an effort to get posts up here by people other than Mogget and Lxx. I, for one, am pleased as punch as I will finally have time for my magnum opus: The use of the Hebrew preposition b as a directional marker for the position of Kolob within the context of the Book of Mormon Isaiah passages. Coming soon to a "Know Your Religion" fireside near … [Read more...]

The Last Waffle of Innocence

The last breakfast was a leisurely one. It was Tuesday morning and there was no need to rush off to the SBL. The first plane didn’t leave until 3PM. So we had waffles. I cooked the first set and kept them warm in the oven. Then, as they worked their way through those that I had kept warm, I cooked another round. And as I moved back and forth between the table and the stove, I thought about the weekend. There had been a lot of back and forth all weekend. Back and forth to various area … [Read more...]

The New Me

After about a week of retirement, I have decided to come back (technically, it took less time than that). Honestly, I have conflicting emotions regarding my return, but I feel like this is the right thing for me right now (much to my own surprise, even). That said, I am moving away from using my own name. Not that I am ashamed of my writing here and not that I am ashamed of my association with you all, but I feel that such is in the best interests of my family. In any case, from here on out … [Read more...]

Renovations

Hello all. I am pleased and saddened to announce my retirement from the bloggernacle (at least until I get more time and motivation). I have been doing this for roughly one and a half years now and I have found it an enlightening and edifying experience, mostly. I have learned a lot here and I hope that I have given something back. The thing that makes it hardest to go is the knowledge that I am likely leaving mid-conversation. I know it will go on without me, but I would have liked to have … [Read more...]
