another random Oscar thought for the day

My moviegoing has slowed down a bit in the last few weeks, but as a completist, I am happy to say that I have already seen most of the feature-length films that were nominated for Academy Awards last Tuesday. I have seen all of them, in fact, except for these six — four of which happen to be playing in Vancouver right now:

  1. Venus — at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas
  2. Notes on a Scandal — at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas and the Cinemark Tinseltown
  3. Curse of the Golden Flower — at the Cinemark Tinseltown
  4. Iraq in Fragments — at the VanCity Theatre
  5. After the Wedding
  6. Days of Glory

Of the two that are not currently in town, I know that one is due to be released here in late February — two days before the Oscar ceremony itself, in fact — but I don’t know about the other one.

Will I get to see these six films soon? Well, I can dream, at least.

Box office: Star Trek, Ice Age come down with sequel fatigue
Watch: The first five clips from the new Ben-Hur
Prophet Joseph -- episodes twenty-five and twenty-six
Tahar Rahim in talks to play Judas in Mary Magdalene

hey, well it looks like you’re doing a good job, and are certainly informed at this stage.

hopefully you get to see all of the remaining 6.

is “completist” a euphenism for OCD?

    Only if it’s a disorder! :)
