The Shack has found its Holy Spirit.

Deadline reports that Japanese pop star Sumire Matsubara has been tapped to play Sarayu, an Asian woman who represents the third person of the Trinity, in Stuart Hazeldine’s adaptation of the best-selling William P. Young novel.

Matsubara joins a cast that already included Octavia Spencer and Graham Greene as God the Father, Aviv Alush as Jesus (aka God the Son), and Sam Worthington and Radha Mitchell as parents who are grieving the loss of their daughter.

So far, no one has been cast yet as Sophia, the personification of God’s wisdom.

The Shack is currently being filmed here in Vancouver, under the code name Advantage. Hazeldine has posted a few deliberately generic, non-spoilerish pictures from the set to his Instagram account, one of which you can see below.

The picture of Matsubara above is from her guest stint on Hawaii Five-O.

That pesky Technocrane again.
