Noah video round-up: a deleted clip, some new soundbites, and a “weather readiness” promo

vlcsnap-2014-08-08-10h01m27s29And the videos keep on coming!

Three weeks ago, five excerpts from the bonus features for Noah were released online, to coincide with the film’s release to Digital HD. The Blu-Ray itself came out last week, and with it, a few new videos.

Noah music round-up: a featurette on Clint Mansell’s score, an interview with Patti Smith, and… a CCM music video?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been listening to Clint Mansell’s soundtrack for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah quite a bit since it came out last week. Intimate at times, big and bombastic at other times, it captures the emotional journey of the film rather well. Now Paramount has released a “featurette” on the soundtrack — more of an ad for it, really — and a few websites have posted interviews with Mansell and with Patti Smith, who wrote the film’s theme song ‘Mercy Is’. Plus we now have a music video of sorts with quotes about the film from church leaders and Christian film critics, all set to a praise-and-worship song. Check it all out below the jump.

Noah has a big first weekend, but what do audiences think?

The box-office estimates are in for this weekend, and the news on that front is very good for Noah, and perhaps for the Bible-movie genre as a whole.

Audience reactions to the film, however, are more of a mixed bag, which could affect the film’s long-term prospects.

Noah made an estimated $44 million in the United States and Canada between Thursday night and Sunday, and it has earned another $51.1 million overseas; the film opened in Mexico and South Korea one week ago and opened in another 20 territories on Thursday or Friday.

Noah video round-up: a new clip, a new music video, and soundbites from faith leaders and filmmakers alike

The movie officially comes out in North America on Friday, but plenty of theatres will be showing it Thursday night. So with three days to go until the film comes out, the studio has released another clip from Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. You can check it out below the jump, along with a new (and possibly unauthorized) music video for the theme song that Patti Smith wrote for the film, as well as some interview clips with the filmmakers and with “faith leaders” who have endorsed the film.

Noah news round-up: a big opening in South Korea, a look at the Jewish myths behind the film, and more

Well what do you know, Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is already playing in theatres and raking in the big bucks… in South Korea.

Various sources are reporting that the film opened there on Thursday (which might mean yesterday, given that it’s on the other side of the international date line), and that its first-day gross was on par with that of films like Gravity and Inception. I imagine those particular examples are cited because they were big hits that, like Noah, did not have the advantage of being sequels or part of a franchise.

Amusingly, The Hollywood Reporter suggests that the film owes part of its success to the fact that South Korea “has a large Christian population”, while Variety notes that “a large percentage of the South Korean population is agnostic”. Well, there’s no reason the film couldn’t be playing to both audiences.

Noah video round-up: new clips, B-roll footage, and more

I’m a little under the weather this morning so I won’t do a news round-up, but I did want to post a few new videos that have popped up in the last few days — including a full-fledged clip from the film, albeit a very brief one. As ever, you can check ’em all out below the jump.
