Be cautious about self-imposed isolation— practice saying “yes.”
Sometimes being isolated is imposed on us and there’s little we can do, but I also know that many of us who feel down can have a tendency to add that heap by self-inflicting more wounds via withdrawing and self-isolation. So, be determined to say “yes” to any opportunity that might minimize feelings of isolation this Christmas.
Feeling isolated at Christmas sucks, but the last thing one needs to do is self-impose that on your holiday season more than it already is. So this Christmas, I’m going to practice saying “yes.” If a friend thinks of me and invites me over, I’ll say yes. If I have an idea of my own that potentially sounds fun or life-giving, I’m going practice saying yes to myself.
