What does “Jesus Culture” mean exactly?

Banning Liebscher: It started for us with a vision to see a generation raised up that wouldn’t just be a counter culture generation but a Jesus Culture generation. Those who would be passionately in love with Jesus and who would give themselves to the cause of Christ in the earth.

How do you define revival?

Banning Liebscher: There are many different definitions of revival, but I believe that revival involves four main components. First, the manifest presence of God in our midst. Second, the church being awakened with the love of Jesus and embracing a life of being set apart for Him. Third, the lost being saved and encountering the love and power of God. Fourth, culture being shaped and transformed for the glory of God.

Tell us about “the greatest hour of history.”

Banning Liebscher: We read about past moves of God and don’t realize that what God is doing in the world today is unprecedented. The amount of people being saved daily in the nations, prayer movements happening, power being restored once again, all point to the fact that God is moving in a significant way. In the midst of darkness, the light of Jesus is shining bright in the nations.

Give us 2 or 3 experiences in your own life that shaped the content of the book.

Banning Liebscher: I was on staff at Bethel Church in Redding California for 18 years. I started there full time when I was 19 years old. During that time, God awakened my heart to all that is available in nations to those who believe and took me into the cave of community and the secret place of prayer.

Give us a few take-aways from the book that have “wowed” readers.

Banning Liebscher: The book is calling a generation to embrace the call for revival in their city and nation and the characteristics of someone who gives oneself for revival. One of those characteristics is they are under covering and properly aligned with the older generation.

This concept has really had impact on both young and old. That it is Mordecais fathering Esthers who together save nation. That God is aligning the rod (authority in the older generation) with the sword (the passion of the younger generation) for revival. That this is not a young person revival but the generations coming together in honor and proper alignment.

How does a person “awaken love” for the Lord?

Banning Liebscher: By encountering His love for us. 1 John says that “we love Him, because He first loved us.” The key to being awakened in your love for God is by abiding in His love and daily encountering His love for you. Your love for Jesus will be awakened when you have a revelation of His love for you.

What do you hope readers will walk away with after they finish your book?

Banning Liebscher: With a deeper understanding of their mandate to change the world and an encounter with Jesus that propels them into a life of prayer and power.
