Among other shows, I grew up watching syndicated “Good Times” episode as a kid after school.  I loved watching JJ’s Dy-No-Mite and watching Janet Jackson starring as Penny the forlorn little girl whom Willona eventually adopted.

The best/worst episodes were the “very specials ones.” (Think Nancy Reagan appearing on Diff’rent Strokes to teach us how to “Just Say No.”)

“Good Times” aired a “very special episode” about sexual diseases, in which Jay Leno appeared as a guest.

I’m not sure when “VD” turned into “STD.” (According to Jeremy Lott, the cool acronym is now STI, for those keeping score at home.)  But in this episode, the producers wanted to teach viewers that getting a disease for fooling around is nothing to hide.

Why am I sharing this?  As a big fan of 1970s and 1980s television, I love the fact that Jay Leno appeared on “Good Times” as a guy that has an STD.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

(Truth be told, I came across this while doing research for a book, so I had to share.  You’re welcome.)
