Trans-Atlantic Disney Cruise, Day 11: Birds

Trans-Atlantic Disney Cruise, Day 11: Birds May 26, 2015

For days, the ocean has been gray and choppy – sending the water in the pool over the edge every few seconds. The North Atlantic has been kinder to us than it could’ve been, but today the waters became blue again, and we saw birds for the first time in six days.

Tomorrow, we’re about to stop in Stavanger, Norway… there was an excitement on board today as people were preparing to step foot on earth again. I, for one, am a little melancholy to see all the conclusion of our sea days. By now, we are seven hours ahead of our Tennessee home – oddly, at even eleven o’clock at night it’s still daylight here. We aren’t the type of people who select a cruise based on where it’s going – we select it based on how many days we’re at sea. And so, our favorite part is about to come to an end…

Today, Camille, Austin, and I played probably four or five hours of gin rummy, Naomi and I attended a cupcake decorating class before drawing pictures in the Oceaneer’s art lab, and David, Camille, and Austin saw one of the Star Wars movies.
Our days have been filled with books, food, and fifty thousand viewings of Teen Beach Movie. (No worries, Teen Beach Movie 2 is on its way!)

Anyway, Stavanger is Norway’s Petroleum capital… I have no idea what that means in terms of what we’ll do there. If you have suggestions, send them our way! (This was an add-on after Iceland was canceled, so the excursions are a tad lame. One excursion, for a mere $500, would allow us to go to a family’s home to find out what it’s like to live there. Um… no.)

Ideas?

Otherwise, I have a feeling we might end up on this big boat with our run of the ship.
