Student can’t pay for date’s prom meal but another customer secretly did THIS to save the night May 1, 2016

Everyone’s had that moment — when you hand over your credit card and realize you don’t have enough money to pay for the transaction.  If you’re lucky, it hasn’t happened in a significant moment, with an audience of your friends watching.

That’s exactly the nightmare scenario that happened in Columbia, Tennessee on Prom night this year.  A young man brought his date to River Terrace — one of the nicest restaurants in this rural Tennessee town.  When they were finished with their lovely meal, the student’s credit card is declined.

The owner discreetly takes the boy aside to discuss the problem, but another table overhears what’s going on. A Facebook post from the restaurant titled “Chivalry alive and well in Columbia Tennessee,” describes what happens next:

“Adjacent table realizes what’s happening and gentleman stops owner out of eyesight of young couple and pays for their dinner – then in a doubly gallant gesture, later covertly pays for another prom couple’s dinner as well…”

The Facebook page didn’t reveal the identity of the Good Samaritan, but the post added:

… we wished to pay respect to this man and honor his generosity in ensuring such a special night as prom was not ruined for this young man and his date, and in adding to the magic of the night for the other couple.”
