I linked to your first story on Franks at <a href="http://mojoey.blogspot.com/2006/10/only-in-texas-republican-godliness-test.html" rel="nofollow">Only in Texas: A Republican Godliness Test</a>

One more thing. I went to the last Carter/Mary Beth Harrell debate at the Cedar Park, TX library. Carter didn't show as usual but I submitted a question to her and the libertarian candidate. I asked if they would submit a bill to have the TX Constitution amended that it not state one must acknowledge a supreme being to hold office in Texas. Mary Beth said she wasn't familiar with it but would look into it. The funny thing was she said that would surprise her because that violates the US constitution. I said "yep". I emailed her the TX constitution and am waiting for her to acknowledge the violation.

Ditto as spin cycle said. Hemant, I say this with all the respect in the world to you...go to the rural south and see how things are whether it be your skin color or lack of religious beliefs and you will encounter a world much different than Chicago. Right here in my district Representative John Carter will win this November. Why? He has dodged every single debate but runs on the fact he is a good Christian man. That's all it takes to win.

"But the Republican tactics just support the idea that it’s ok to knock someone down if they don’t believe in the Christian God."

welcome to texas. It's scary as hell to tell anyone here that you don't agree with their superstitions. (I live here)
