So, I'm a late commenter.
I don't have kids and am not currently expecting any, but I told a friend about the book and he bought a copy. Just trying to do my part.

Thanks for the thoughts, K. But how do you raise your children with that smug cloud all around you?

K said: I have to agree that there really isn’t any market for it because Atheists are smart enough to not need a self-help book on how to be…a regular person
.
Where's the line forming for the dumb atheists, like me, to buy the book? 8^)
Like a number of parents I know, I've purchased more than a few parenting how-to books (none of them based on religion). With the waning help and influence of the extended family in our highly mobile society, and the further isolation of a hi-tech world, we parents need all the advice we can get (and then to think critically about that advice, of course). The reason I'll be adding this book to my collection is because of the fact that there are aspects of our culture that are immersed in religion, and I would like to gain insight on how to educate my children about religious beliefs without them feeling they are obligated to accept them as true, while still being able to respect (as human beings) those who do.

Atheists are smart enough to not need a self-help book on how to be…a regular person.

It's not about how to be a regular person, it's how to raise ethical kids in a religion-soaked society where they will be oddballs-by-default if they don't belong to a church, temple, mosque, etc.

My copy just arrived today and - while my kids are almost nearly "raised" by now - I'm looking forward to reading it.

"If you haven’t purchased your copy yet, do it now!"

Nah, we don't need a book of instructions on how to live a normal life without brainwashing and mythos. I have to agree that there really isn't any market for it because Atheists are smart enough to not need a self-help book on how to be...a regular person.
Sorry.

My wife and I are expected our first child in a couple months and we got our copy last week. I haven't had a chance to do more than look it over but it looks great.

I'd like to say I'm surprised it is being ignored by certain magizines and such, but I'm not. The real bottom line is money and these companies know the majority of their money comes from Christians. Why would they risk subscribers to appeal to the minority?
