Wow, it sure makes me glad there are is not one other person in the entire United States with the same name as me. (Yes, I’m quite sure. I know all 9 of the people with the same last name. We’re all closely related.)

Woe unto anyone who shares their name with someone who becomes infamous, especially in this age of fast-as-light misinformation. I’m sure more than one guy named Al Kayda have suffered a severe drop in business, and if any of those born under the name Ben Lodin haven’t committed suicide, they probably got their names changed to Pat Triot or something.

However, that remark was not recorded and no other reporter admits to having heard Bush say that. It’s not a quotation we should be repeating as fact.

In Sherman’s favor though:

1) he succeeded in getting a FOIA document release that proved the key aspects of his story
2) Bush Sr.’s people have never denied that he said it, and in fact answered questions about in implying that it did in fact take place
