Apparently, Tom Cruise (via his studio, United Artists) bought the rights to the Charlie Brown specials. That includes A Charlie Brown Christmas.

What will the new version look like?

    In a world where copyright law was anywhere close to being within wishing distance of the realm of sane, the Charlie Brown specials would be in the public domain already.

    But we already know that we don’t live in that world, or one any closer to sanity.

    I agree. I don’t think it’s better that way. I think it’s worse or rather it messes up a good cartoon.
