Of course another religious reaction to astronomy is that God created all these non-earth heavenly objects (billions and billions of galaxies not to mention the relatively trivial number [as compared to the total number in the universe] of starts, planets, and other objects in our own galaxy) for our amusement. The religious idea is that it is all about us. Yes God created it all for us for we are in His image. Or was it all created for Jesus? The giganticness of the universe does nothing to weaken the claim that the Christian God impregnated a woman 2000 years ago. See, that just proves it’s even more miraculous! The giganticness of the universe does nothing to weaken the claim that the Christian God impregnated a woman 2000 years ago. In fact, the emotional reaction some feel to this sense of existing in such a vast space, a sense of awe, is experienced by religious and non religious people, but for the religious it’s, “God made all of this, and made me too, and in the midst of all of this God knows each hair on my head? It is fair to make restricted claims about the physical/mathematical observations we can make. But to claim your inside knowledge about deities is to make claims for billions of stars and living beings without even trying to consult them. Harsh. In a way, whenever we on Earth make claims about the universe, we are speaking for all of these planets, stars, galaxies, superclusters, and the billions of life forms living throughout.

It is fair to make restricted claims about the physical/mathematical observations we can make. But to claim your inside knowledge about deities is to make claims for billions of stars and living beings without even trying to consult them. Harsh.
