Metatron, from Dogma: "Metatron acts as the voice of God. Any documented occasion when some yahoo claims God has spoken to them, they're speaking to me. Or they're talking to themselves. "

The only voice I hear is my own. What I don't get is why Sherri doesn't face reality. What's she afraid of?

Bartlett, I think she's saying something like of "What theory is this? The voices theory?"

I think that big yenta, Joy Behar, would have made her point more effectively if she had pointed out that advances in modern science and medicine have done away with the notion of people being possessed by demons rather than using the saints as examples -- although I do think some of the saints may have had hallucinatory issues. Not all canonized saints were canonized on the basis of having visions or hearing voices or exhibiting otherwise unexplainable behaviors while those supposedly possessed by demons were condemned on exactly that sort of "evidence".

But then, this is The View, so who cares what any of those great big ignoramuses says? :-/

How sad that you believe this.....here are the most recent Saints look Up:Life of St. John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Fransisco(1966) Blessed Father Seraphim Rose (1934 - 1982) St. Nectarios lived from 1846 until 1920. On November 9th, (1920) St. Nectarios reposed in the Lord.

[Iraqcrisis] Islamic Group Beheads Assyrian Priest, Crucifies 14 Year Old Boy in North IraqWe are all witnessing in our times Orthodox Christian martyrs as of most recent, and who come forth as loving souls who simply loved God, and His Church the Holy Orthodox Faith. At the same time we have been humbly blessed ourselves to have been made worthy to see people who made a loving sacrifice for Christ our Lord, and for us all, even among the monastic of the Orthodox Church, whose life was prayer, and in sharing that prayer with their brotherhoods, as well as reaching out to help others also find hope and their path towards their salvation. These great pilgrims in Christ, where simply advocates of piety, and yet in the end found true spiritual victory, as if each one was crowned no longer with thorns, but received a greater crown among us, and in the Kingdom of our Lord God, who are now among the saints, and the martyrs.methodius.blogspot.com/2007/02/christian-martyrs-of-20th-century.htmlSome years ago I visited the St Tikhon's Institute in Moscow and saw how they were collecting in a database information about all those who had been killed because of their Christian faith during the Bolshevik period. The process is quite a lot further advanced than it was then, and the database has been used to add martyrs to the calendar of the church.

Thank God I don't have a fast enough connection to listen to it.

The View? You're making points based on what people say at The View? Hells belles, what next?

The only thing I see that's interesting in what you quoted is that someone on a really stupid TV show thinks they know something about diagnosing people they've never known as schizophrenic and that millions of people will fall for it.

I wish you had quoted the other Viewnit so we who use dial-up could see what other expertise they bring to the Great American Culture without having to hear it.

Did you see this link of PZ?
http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/01/atheist_in_need.php
I'm a lurker here and thought you might be able to help publicize this. It looks like a great cause and a way to promote positive atheism. I'll link the effort blog in the URL.
