Gotta love it!!

These people are sexist and discriminatory because of their religious beliefs. THIS ignorance, at this time and place, would not have thrived without religion. Why shouldn’t we place the blame where it so clearly belongs?

Yes, it is clear that this is throwback behavior, which seems to happen a lot in religious groups.

The rest of western society moved on from this about 50 to 100 years ago. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia is threatening to behead a woman as a witch.

It is clear that religions create a diversity of experimental cultural microcosms. They have an analog to the darwinian process. I wish some of these could be selected out of the societal genepool.

We need to propose new selection pressures. We need to fulment a culture of skepticism.

Their extinction is overdue.

Don’t worry – their behavior is deleterious Although…we may not live to see them disappear.

This post reminded me of an obsurd site I once heard about, but it’s really off topic from this, so it’s posted it the forum.

Somehow they can worship a female and name their superstition mill after one but can’t let one have any authority over boys.

I disagree, psychodiva. Yes, the world by and large ignores gender discrimination, but it is by no means the last prejudice. There are plenty more still out there. Unfortunately.

Yes of course there are loads of other prejudices My comment, if read how I meant it to be read was that this is the one that is still being ignored- all other prejudices are recognised to some extent or another- this one tends to be ignored by everybody and dismissed as ‘cultural’ or ‘religious’ nobody puts embargoes onto countries who don’t have equal rights, nobody goes to war over it.

That is one stupid and pointless platitude. Is it meant to imply that ignorance is simply a human condition, and we should ignore the portions that have a clear cause because we can’t fix it all? That’s charmingly defeatist.

Is it meant to imply that we should decry the effect but leave the cause alone? Or maybe, just leave this cause alone? That will make certain nothing ever improves.
