We are free to pick and choose whatever works for us. It doesn’t matter if that is the Sermon on the Mount (Christianity), the Eightfold Path (Buddhism), whole chunks of Jainism, underwear advice in Mormonism or the anti-war message in Lord of the Rings. We are free to choose and don’t feel any need to take the bad along with the good.

In addition we are free to laugh at the silly stuff (wink wink) that the holy books pass off as revealed wisdom. We can even use it to make fun of those who promote a literal reading of these holy books.

Were you expecting atheists to hate the bible and refuse to touch it? If so then you’re getting us mixed up with vampires.

If they’re attempts at humor, then they are horrible. Basically, “You’re all going to hell! Heh heh!”

As far as being “slow to speak” is concerned – what precisely is it you’re trying to accomplish here? Do you think these drive-by comments are of any value? Do you honestly think that anyone here comes away thinking, “My God, he’s right! I’d better straighten out my act so I won’t go to hell for eternity!”? Or are you merely trying to satisfy a morbid curiosity?

Rest – and I certainly didn’t see a head-covering on her in that footage from her church. Unless she took option B and shaved her head and then wore a wig over it… maybe that’s sort of obeying both choices! A shaven head with a wig covering!

Gosh darnit Joe, that bible verse just isn’t as funny, now is it?

Does it bother anyone else that these God Talk Radio guys show up every once in a while to make an inane comment that only they find humorous? The last one I remember was when we were trying to come up with reasons not to believe in evolution, and one of them said, “Because if you believe it, you’ll go to hell!”
