Barrage of Christian Love for Atheist Suing Kentucky

Edwin Kagin, the Legal Director for American Atheists, is rightfully leading the charge against the state of Kentucky (PDF) for saying that praising God is the first duty of the Homeland Security Office. (I still support the lawsuit despite the shaky reasons given for filing it.)

And the Christians are letting him have it.

I have personally seen God.

You are an arrogant piece of shit.

If it we legal, I would delight in ripping you to pieces.

Have a nice day, shitbag

Because of the Jews like you who stink with an ego and mediocrity the world that searches for the Light on to the nations (People of the book) runs into a dark tunnel of hate. You assult the ability to believe.

People who do not belive create death everywhere — Russia, Kombodia, China — name it.

Your spirital father Marx would be proud of you. But when the hell breaks loose for you
you will see that you squandered G-d given talent for the sake of your immorality that you seem to be justifing.

1. atheists are in the minority in this country
2. there is NO separation of Church and State in the Constitution, never has been.
3.your organization is founded on a myth
4. the MAJORITY rules in a republic style of government
5.If there was NO GOD, how do you explain how you were born?
6.You and your organization are proof positive of what happens when uneducated and ill informed people are given free speech rights. You use them for evil instead of doing good.

There are plenty more where that came from.

Even if these Christians aren’t fans of the lawsuit, I’m still surprised they seem to be ok with the law as it is. I would think their God would “protect them” whether it’s written in the books or not. Why not get your government officials working on something tangible and worth your tax dollars?

Their anger is directed at the wrong people.

5.If there was NO GOD, how do you explain how you were born?

Well they might not have taught this in your homeschooling courses.

But when a mommy and a daddy love each other very much….

This made me laugh out loud.

Hmmm, if the clowns that wrote such letters were to realize that 93 percent of the elite scientists (National Academy level) were either atheist or agnostic, would they quit using the medicine and other technological advances that they were largely responsible for?

Oh well, it is always fun to laugh at them. :)

    A few responses:

You’ve personally seen God? What did he look like? And was he the one who told you to be violent to others, because I kind of remember it saying somewhere in the Bible that you shouldn’t violently attack people. I mean, the only people I can think of today who attack those who don’t share their beliefs would be…jihadists.

    ………………

I’m not a Jew I’m an atheist. Perhaps you should look up the difference? Especially considering that Jesus was a Jew.

People who believe create death everywhere…9/11…Mumbai attacks…the Crusades…you.

Actually I’m a capitalist, not a socialist. I wasn’t aware that we were still in the Red Scare of the 1950s though?

    ……………………..

    1. So are African Americans, Hispanics, and Jews, does that give you a right to discriminate against them?
    2. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
    3. What myth would that be, exactly? The myth that there is a great bearded man in the sky controlling all that we do? No, wait that can’t be it…
    4. Wrong. The majority rules in a pure democracy, which we are not. What is more, the constitution exists in part specifically to protec minorities from what the Founding Fathers called “the tyranny of the majority” If you follow your logic slavery would still be legal. But maybe you would be ok with that.
    5. Well, sonny, when a man and a woman love eachother VERY much…
    6. Wow, funny, I would use you as an example of what happens when uneducated and ill informed people use free speech, and also an example of people using speech for evil.

These people are so obnoxiously ignorant, it’s sad.

    And terrifying.

    1. atheists are in the minority in this country

Since we’re a republic, minority rights are protected.

    2. there is NO separation of Church and State in the Constitution, never has been.

Establishment Clause – look it up dumbass.

3.your organization is founded on a myth

That the US justice system is functional? Well, that remains to be seen.

    4. the MAJORITY rules in a republic style of government

No, that’s a democracy. A republic CAN produce the opposite results if the laws are written in a certain way.

6.You and your organization are proof positive of what happens when uneducated and ill informed people are given free speech rights. You use them for evil instead of doing good.

So, you want to establish a licensing procedure for rights? Who said that speech was only reserved for what YOU agree with?

    Kombodia

What’s with the atrocious spelling and grammar in general? Who taught these monkeys how to use a copmuter, typewriter, pen…etch-a-sketch?

    2. There is separation of church and state; there always has been.
    3. YOUR organization is founded on a myth
    4. The framers of the Constitution specifically addressed the “tyranny of the majority.” Majority rules is not what they wanted.
    5. When a man and a woman have sexual intercourse…oh, nevermind I’ll tell you when you’re older.
6.YOU and YOUR organization are proof positive of what happens when uneducated and ill-informed people are given free speech rights. You use them for evil instead of doing good. (I think you just forgot which organization you were talking about for a minute. it’s okay, everyone gets confused).
I’m not totally sure why it’s free speech specifically that’s ruining everything though.

Not that these people will come read this, but responding makes me feel better.

  • http://www.sheeptoshawl.com writerdd

Seriously, where do all these mean Christians hang out and how come I never met any of them? I know they exist, but Jeezuz Frakking Christ.

6.You and your organization are proof positive of what happens when uneducated and ill informed people are given free speech rights. You use them for evil instead of doing good.

Um… Can anyone say “the pot calling the kettle black”?

I am still trying to figure out if American Christianity has actually changed this much since I quit going to church in the 1980s or if a few isolated assholes just get a lot of press because controversy gets ratings.

  • Gabriel

This just makes me think that many people who claim to be christians either don’t beleive or they are worried that their god is a puny little diety who can’t get things done without their help.

writerdd — I’m willing to bet many of these ARE what you might consider nice ones, not simply a handful. Obviously, not one of them would have the stones to say this to your face, but behind the anonymity of the internet? Then it’s a free-for-all.

I doubt any of my old Christian friends would be so mean even on the internet, although I guess some of the people I did not know very well may have been meaner than I thought they were. My atheist friends would not be so mean either. I really don’t know why everyone is so mean these days. It’s really depressing. Mean people suck, whether or not they believe in God and whether they are mean to your face or online.

These are the sorts of statements that are revolting to (most) believers and skeptics alike. How did these people survive long enough to reach reproductive age? Oh wait, at least one of them presumably still hasn’t, or is in for a big surprise…

More liars for Christ. I wonder if the “moderate” Christians will stand up and denounce these idiots?

Maybe I could just defend it up to getting a hangnail and a headache. (Which this crap has already produced.)

How many “moderate” atheists stand up and denounce atheists who are idiots?

Well, you and I have, and we, as some old guy has said too many times, “have the scars to prove it.” ;)

  • http://www.atheists.org/tx Joe Zamecki

The hatred spewed by some Christians over this lawsuit serves to drive home their real thought processes: Hate for religion. FoxNews should read them on the air.

I can attest that we Atheists stand up and denounce Atheists who are idiots. Some of us do that way too much. Many of us are hyper-critical of our own activists and activism methods, and that’s for the best. We tend to behave better for it, I believe. That and we don’t have an ideology that inspires bad behavior.

But often really energetic Atheist activists quit activism out of frustration with all of the back-seat driving and Monday-morning quarterbacking that goes on between us. Some of it has been VERY heated and dramatic.

I have often suggested to some of the more aggressive critics among us that we forgive and move on. When our people screw up, it’s almost always minor. Our track record is clean. We’re good people, but even the most successful activists among us have already made lots of big errors along the way. The trick is to not give up in the face of all that.

This is how our movement has evolved, I believe. We don’t give up so easily.

  • Richard Wade

That is encouraging, Joe. Thank you.

  • http://www.sheeptoshawl.com writerdd

Really, I am not sure the “fight” is about who believes in God or not. Or maybe it shouldn’t be. It should be about who acts like an ass and who acts like a compassionate human being.

  • j swift

“Your spirital father Marx would be proud of you.”

Ahhhh, it was all Marx’s fault there were no atheist before he came along.

writerdd, you statement is rational, but of course it presupposes that there is a distinction in the minds of these “Christians” between being an ass and a compassionate human.

I don’t think that distinction exists to some of these people. What we would call acting like an ass is righteous behavior, warrior for Christ stuff and completely justified by the Bible and God.

If they need to pray despite their god being omnipotent, is it any surprise that they think that writing a law would control the god? And if the politicians think that they can give us things like social security just by passing a law that says we have it (as opposed to, ya know, actually funding it sufficiently), is it any surprise that they think that writing a law can control other fictional entities?

No, on the contrary, this is exactly what I’d expect from the church-state cult.

  • RobL

Most of these came from .yahoo or similar e-mail addresses, nothing to do about them. The ones with identifiable address extensions are more fun. The first identifiable one was from an AirGuard base with a .mil extension. I just sent their public affairs officer a note asking if it was a proper use of a government computer. A lot of these dingbats dont realize they can lose their jobs by sending stupid e-mails on company systems. I am getting a sick pleasure out of getting these people in trouble. Forgive me.

I thought it was rhetorical when we ask theists whether they would be out raping/pillaging/killing if some authority (God) hadn’t said it was wrong. I guess we have our answer, and we need to start asking the question seriously.
