The Veritas Forum at The Ohio State University

Next weekend, I’ll be at The Ohio State University in Columbus to have a public discussion with Jay Gamelin (pastor of Jacob’s Porch) on various aspects of the Christian church. It’s sponsored by The Veritas Forum.

Some of the questions we will be discussing:

What do Christians think of when they hear about “church/state separation”? Atheism?

What do atheists think of when they hear the words “church” and “Christian”?

Are there ways that we can get beyond our differences and work together toward common goals?

Those questions and many more will be discussed. There won’t be philosophical, over-everyone’s-head discussions on the existence of God. Rather, it’ll focus on more social aspects of Christianity and atheism.

The event takes place on Saturday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. at McPherson Hall.

I believe the event is free, and if there are any post-event parties, I’ll put something up on the site.

If you’re in the area, hope to see you there!

I believe I might make an attempt to attend, dependent on the weather.

Mmm, it’s McPherson Lab. I was going to comment saying, “whine whine whine I probably won’t go” … but I work on the 4th floor of that building, so …. if I’m on campus I might stop by :) At least for once I’ll know why the hell there are so many people in my building on a weekend :)

My Xian friend (a campus pastor in New Orleans) is hosting a Veritas Forum at Tulane and Francis Collins is speaking. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is going to be a counterpoint.

    I’ll definitely consider going! I Just hope I don’t forget… :-/

Do you have a Facebook event invite so I won’t forget? (I know I could do that archaic thing called “writing it down”, but I’ve forgotten how to do that as well)

You’ll be happy to know that I’ve started seeing signs advertising the event. And if I notice the signs, then there must be zillions of them.

The students for free thought are advertising this as beginning at 6. I don’t know who is right, but I hope you’re not late!
