First of all Matto the hun Christians dont rewrite the Bible to say whatever they want, your totally wrong. and I as well as other christians dont appreciate you criticizing us. But no matter what you believe Im prayig for you, and Jesus Loves You!! and the Bible does tell me so, as a matter of fact the Bible tells everyone so including you. So I thought I might let you know even though you probably already know from your childhood or something.

My high school students believe all kinds of crap that they have heard from their parents and in their churches here in Lynchburg, VA. (home of Jerry Falwell)
Amongst their beliefs: he was sworn in on the Koran, he plans to take away the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem, and that he believes in abortion up to one year. (something’s off with that math!)

Living here has definitely confirmed my beliefs–or lack there of!

What really surprises me is the stat on the 18-29-year-olds. I’d think they’d be one of the most informed groups.

I wonder if Obama’s surprising rightward moves – particularly those with respect to ‘enemy combatants’, state secrets, and so forth, are in part an attempt to disassociate himself from the mythology that he is a Muslim socialist.

Evangelical Christians — nineteen percent of them think he’s a Muslim.

(That same percentage of people disapprove with the job he’s doing… coincidence?)

This is a misleading comparison. The same percentage from each group think that he’s a Muslim, but this isn’t especially meaningful since the size of the group of Evangelical Christians and the size of the group of people who disapprove of the job Obama is doing are NOT the same. That is to say, the relative percentages may be the same, but you’re still comparing apples to oranges.

I know a number of people who are convinced that Obama is a “Christian of convenience” – i.e. a closet atheist who realized he needed to be Christian to advance his political career.

Eh, I’m willing to buy that. I bet that there have been several prominent closeted atheist/agnostic politicians over the years who have had to bite their tongues and make sure they show up to service every Sunday. It’s impossible to get elected in the US if you don’t at least give lip service to Christianity.
