I Can’t Wait Until Talk Like a Pirate Day 2009

Jen’s pics from Talk Like a Pirate Day 2008 remind me why it’s the greatest holiday of the year. It honors the Flying Spaghetti Monster (peace be upon Him).

Just click on the pic below to expand it and enjoy the wonderful posters:

TLAPD

Just under a hundred days before the next celebration… I’m sure the Society of Non-Theists at Purdue University will outdo themselves yet again.

CFSM is a funny analogy to rival other creation stories. However, is it too divisive to poke fun at one’s beliefs in order to make a point? I’ve found rational discourse typically is better recieved than parody.

Doesn’t International Talk Like A Pirate Day pre-date FSM by 10 years? Are they stealing pagan holidays like the Christians before them? Oester anyone?

What Robin said. Talk like a pirate day came first. FSM came later.

Talk like a pirate day doesn’t “honor” anything but having fun talking a new way.

FSM is great, and so is TLPD, but they aren’t related.

Is it me or does the guy on the right look like his foot is resting on a box that was Photoshop-ed out of the picture?

My brother is coincidentally getting married on Talk Like a Pirate Day, and he won’t let me wear my full pirate regalia to the wedding. Aaargh.

He’s doing that Captain Morgan commercial thing:

Of course we are! We can steal holidays just as well as the xians can. What kind of Pirates would we be if we didn’t loot and pillage? YARRRGH and RAmen!

The original point of the Church of the FSM (pesto be upon him) is to fight creationism in the schools by demanding equal time for something obviously ridiculous. I think satire is a wonderful tool for this.

Avast! Another scurvy religion boards and hijacks some other swab’s holiday, and hoists their flag atop the mainmast! Makes me black heart proud. It’s the pirate tradition! Arrrr.

Ubi Dubium said exactly what I was going to say. Thanks! And Talk Like a Pirate Day is officially listed as a holiday in the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, along with Halloween and a vague winter “Holiday.”

I’m the one of the left, by the way. It was so much fun :D

Last year I did have a great day talking like a pirate with my friends online. I did use the AV Voice Changer Software to change my real voice into many different pirate voices. It’s a great memory. I am gonna do it this year
