Foundation Beyond Belief Launches

I’ve written before about Foundation Beyond Belief:

Foundation Beyond Belief is a new 501c3 charitable and educational foundation created (1) to focus, encourage and demonstrate humanistic generosity, and (2) to support a nationwide nonreligious parent education program.

This is a terrific opportunity for non-religious people everywhere. We’ve never had a true “atheist” charity we could point to and say to others, “Look at the good work non-theists are doing!”

Kiva is fantastic, no doubt, and atheists have given in bunches, but Kiva is not a non-theistic organization.

Now we have Foundation Beyond Belief. (Full disclosure:) I serve on the board of the group and we are gearing up for a major launch of the foundation. It’ll come in phases, and this is the first one.

In a few months, you’ll see a website and a roll-out of the wonderful charities that foundation money will be given to, charities which serve all people, not just atheists.

There are a couple ways you can get involved right now.

The first way is to join the Facebook group.

The second way — the way we really need you to help right now — is to give any amount you can to our cause.

Later, there will be other ways to donate (non-PayPal), but for now, this will help us get some of the infrastructure together.

Thanks for your help, and you’ll hear more about this foundation soon enough.

Is there a way to give from within the Facebook Causes application? Or is that something which will be added later?

Also, are donations officially tax-deductible now?

Okay, I’m feeling very old. I don’t use Facebook and I won’t use PayPal. Once you have a post office box that I can send a check to, let me know.

FINALLY! Dale is a innovator as I’m tired of hearing atheist charities don’t exist.

I switched my profile picture to the FBB logo. I hope that’s ok. I want to spread the word as much as I can on the good ol’ FB.
