Veggie Tales

I blame PETA.

A lot of time is going to have to pass before any joke involving 9/11 is funny.

    Probably past my lifetime.

Well technically meat machines did 9/11 but then they also did every other human atrocity..EVER. As always though, it is a bit more complicated than that.

I notice that you don’t say the same about autism.

    Americans take themselves too seriously.

Aw, c’mon. Veggie Tales is too good of a series to have its name hijacked like this.

Dave, you might like to remember that 9/11 was a HUGE catastrophe over here. In addition to the numerous human deaths, a well-known public landmark was destroyed. In America, landmarks are srs bsns.

The scary thing is, I think vegetarian propagandarists have already claimed that meat causes autism. After all, they’ve claimed that it cause cancer, rapid aging, intestinal toxicity, and other delicious problems. Some of the most fanatical have even claimed that a vegan diet can cure AIDS.

Pthththt. I watched one episode of Veggie Tales. It was the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho. In which God’s favorite vegetables get to kill all the other veggies and steal their land, because God said they could. Tribal, immoral, religious tripe, no matter whether it was dressed up in veggie animation or no.

I, um, actually like Veggie Tales, lol! When my daughter rented one from the library I had no idea what they were so I was taken by surprise, lol! They’re cute though.

For 9/11 – just days after it my mom was making jokes (and I need to point out we live close enough that we could smell the towers burning for days). It pissed me off at first til I read an article talking about how people process things in different ways and for some people, humor is what does it. It’s still not something I joke about (though I did laugh at the latest Mr. Deity) but that doesn’t mean that others can’t.

Perspective: Coal power plants kill 30,000 Americans every year. That’s a 9/11 every 32 days.
Perspective: Vehicular accidents kill 36,000 Americans every year. That’s a 9/11 every 27 days.

Shh. Don’t tell them that. We Americans are much more impressed by large numbers all at once.
