Funny that you choose a victim to show what you are doing yourself too :) There is so much more to say about Lev. 19, but you just pick a part of a verse to comment on someone else. That's exactly what you critize somebody else over: Cherrypicking.

Speaking like Veritas: Atheïst FAIL!

Because of this article I was inspired, and recently got a tattoo on my left forearm that reads (in fancy Biblical script): "Leviticus 19:28".

RHJunior gets the point. This lame apologetic which bashes the Bible and people who disagree with same-sex behaviour as either nit-pickers or morons simply begs the question.

Sigh. Why bother, I ask myself...it's always a pain when someone who doesn't even study the bible critiques it, and it's a waste of breath and time to talk to a pompous ass who's sure he's got all the answers anyway. But what the hell, here's a few more pearls before swine...

1)the Old Testament Laws were not presented or categorized all in one massive homogenous lump, any more than you would lump today's homicide laws in with the traffic code. They were categorized differently, and penalties and prosecution of the laws--- if any--- was complicated and diverse as any modern legal system. So please stop blabbering like a moron about dietary laws or the prohibitions against mixed-fabric clothing in the same breath as their laws against murder, rape, adultery, incest and sexual deviancy.

2)The bans against the marring and marking of the body (tattoos and such) were prohibitions against the sort of ritual scarring that worshippers of pagan deities from surrounding kingdoms engaged in. Considering worship of these deities involved things like cannibalism and infant sacrifice, the ban against anything even HINTING at them is understandable, don't you think?

these people forget that the crap in leviticus was mostly against tatoos and homosexual behavior in OTHER religions settings....i.e. it was an attack to say the other religion is wrong. they also forget that to follow the teachings of Jesus one would realize that he basically started over with a "new covenant" people following old testament rules arent following Christianity as defined as teachings of Jesus

It begs the question. If this anti gay guy is such a follower of bible teachings, where is the evidence of it in his life as a whole?

I would love to see it wouldn't you?

@Charles - It's funny because muslims don't believe in the bible, it was a joke because everyone else was focused on the gay part, and I chose a different aproach... duh?

btw way though, I totally agree if more christians actually read the bible, they may not believe in it as much.

@Cindy:

I feel comfortable in making the sweeping generalization that your average atheist knows more about the Bible and Christian apologetics than the average Christian does. It's probably why most of us are atheists in the first place.

@Cory - what? A muslim can't be gay? C'mon, guy. Think again...

@Cindy- How do you think we became Atheists? I know the Bible pretty well. The Bible, Qu'uran and the Bhagavad Gita all contributed to make me a good, solid Atheist. The Book of Mormon and Dianetics merely convinced me of the correctness of my views. There are LOTS of atheists who know their bible. That's why they're atheists. :)
