Not that many countries have Senates, and even fewer of them have been at war with the USA. Italy? Mexico? The Philippines? Spain? It’s hard to imagine any of them with only one Christian Senator.

It makes more sense than some other NPP laureates, frankly. This is a global issue when you're talking about a nation fighting two wars in Muslim lands and with a presence in many different cultures and belief systems. When U.S. officials proselytise in uniform it can easily make it seem, well, official and sanctioned by our nation. It could perhaps even take on a tone like the Crusades. I've been hearing quite a bit lately about the fundamentalists taking over the military and it's been scaring me like crazy.
