I’m willing to give Wiseman the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps he actually was joking. In light of that, though, facebook is still a part of the internet and, as a publicly elected official, you’re held to higher standards.

So, assuming it was a joke, it was still in poor taste.

The real hitch here is that I could see myself joking that way … to people who know me. Honestly, if I’d heard — say — a standup comedian make a joke like that, I’d laugh. It’s also possible I might even post something like that on Facebook. But then, I’d be very likely to add an emoticon or something else to show I meant it as a joke.

The bottom line is that Wiseman sounds as though he’s making excuses — and perhaps he is, I don’t know the guy — but his claim that he was making a joke among friends IS a plausible one.

I don’t know Mayor Wiseman, but I do know that me and the wife say stuff like that just because it is so over the top and ridiculous. I hear Pres. Obama on the radio and I channel my paranoid conservative neighbor across the street – “Damn Muslim gonna destroy us with his socialism…”
I’m willing to cut Wiseman some slack. He is most likely just the latest person to think what he writes on his Facebook page will only be seen by his buddies who know he is kidding around.

I don’t what’s more unbeleivable — President Obama pre-empted that darn Charlie Brown special or President Obama truly deserved that Peace Prize! Maybe the Mayor felt free to make a fool of himself since the Nobel Prize Committee set such a fine example.

Obama’s speech defending war in accepting a Peace Prize made me want to vomit. WTF? They should have leapt to their feet and took the Prize back screaming no, you moron, this price is for promoting peace not war.

I’m actually surprised that this is news. Michael Savage calls Obama either a neo-fascist Muslim or a commie rat (or both) every day on his nationally syndicated radio show. Nothing is ever said about that.

True. I’ve often thought that Savage has no real conviction about what he is saying-it’s all entertainment. Still, I would make a distinction between a radio host and an elected official.

I must admit that while I tend to agree with Mr. Olbermann, I dislike his entire show with all of the smugness and seemingly fale intensity. I much prefer Rachel Maddow. Maybe it’s good for the left to have someone like Bill O, but it’s hard for me to swallow.

I think that at this point, all the fundy/birther/repugs like this idiot are in a big “one up” fest. Most probably know that what they’re saying is wrong, but since everyone else in the party is being clever (*wink~wink*, you betcha), they feel that they had better join in lest they be left behind.
