Well, I’m certainly glad you made me aware that some people always fall for “The World’s Ending” hoaxes, as though I don’t see Nostradamus all over the tabloids every other time I run out for milk. Sorry to hear you think it’s easy to dismiss them, though…actually I’m giving up with most of my atheist friends because ignoring and dismissing the fringe seems to be a challenge that’s way beyond them. In fact I’ve had it with what the atheist movement has become. Everyone I know is very clear on what a bad thing is and prides himself on spotting it. Take the now grossly over-explored concept “taboo.” Me see bad thing? Me break bad thing! Me (Lizzie): How find good thing, wise philosophers?
Neil deGrasse Tyson is a good thing, but if anyone wants to track down crazies and give them the attention they seek, he’s got an unfulfilling life. Is this a good or bad thing? No comment.

HeH!Heh! When people ask why I am an amateur astronomer, I always say every kid loves space & dinosaurs but I never outgrew space. One day a paleontologist is going to smack me down for that.
LOVE this man so much. He is the Sagan of our time. He talks real science and critical thinking but at the level of everyman.
And (this is the most racist thing I will ever say**), I am so glad he is black, too. In 15 years science classes will be filled with black kids who were inspired to by him to enter science as a career.

**I know that hanging the millstone of representing your race or sex around somebody’s neck is not fair, but it really does matter when all the scientists you read about in the history books are white males…..

Did he really say there is over 50 million web pages dedicated to the 2112 hoax? Gads, that’s depressing. And it’s just going to get worse in the next two years.

Is anyone else planning to buy stock in emergency preparedness companies and generator manufacturers? I plan on buying in August, and holding up to December 20th.
