YouTube has once again censored a video without a good explanation. It sounds to me like a few people were offended by the content and wanted to make sure no one else could see it either.
This time, the victim is the video for the song “The Music Made Me Do it” by the band Fuji Minx (possibly NSFW).
Meh. I don’t see the big deal.
Mild nudity + Christian symbols + overblown hype = When’s Bill Donohue going to show up?
After nearly a week on YouTube and over 12,000 views, YouTube took it down.
The video features a scene of lead singer Greta Valenti dressed as a body painted topless devil, writing confess on a picture of the pope before setting it and an alter alight.
Valenti is author of the blog Masturbating Catholic.
According to a press release from the band:
YouTube refuses to answer why the video was taken down, saying only “We are unable to provide specific detail regarding your account suspension or your video’s removal.”
Some say the video was taken down for the brief bits of nudity in the video, according to their terms they DO allow some nudity on their site.
I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes at YouTube but there’s no reason to take down this video.
Don’t like it? Don’t watch it. It’s simple.
