Here’s a wonderful video tribute to Christopher Hitchens by The Thinking Atheist:
Hemant Mehta is the chair of Foundation Beyond Belief and a high school math teacher in the suburbs of Chicago. He began writing the Friendly Atheist blog in 2006. His latest book is called The Young Atheist's Survival Guide.
Enchanting video. Enchanting man.
I’ve managed to stop crying about Hitch’s death a few times since Friday morning, but not much. This video was very cathartic; hopefully a few more tears now and I’ll be able to move on.
If nothing else, the tears have helped clear out my sinuses. I like to think Hitch would have gotten a smile out of that.
“Thank you Christopher. We’ll take it from here.”
What an absolutely perfect ending!
Favorite comment on that video:
“It took Christopher Hitchens all of one day to convince god to kill Kim Jong Il. Talk about powers of persuasion.”
The only problem I have with this video is the killing part. It’s not so effective…
I feel a little more alone now in the world with one of the greatest rational minds god. Thank you for what you did Hitch, and yes, we will take it from here.
I don’t think Hitchins would be comfortable with such a saccharine tribute. The man was brilliant and articulate. He also said many stupid, mean, contradictory, vulgar, and factually wrong things. Cultural sainthood doesn’t fit Steve Jobs and it’s the last thing that Hitchins would want.
