I like the definition of faith in the film Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version): “Faith means believing in something when common sense tells you not to.”
Of course in the movie this is touted as a positive thing in a lovey-duvey maudlin way (although I do like this movie! One of my Christmas traditions!)
