About Hemant Mehta

Hemant Mehta is the editor of Friendly Atheist, appears on the Atheist Voice channel on YouTube, and co-hosts the uniquely-named Friendly Atheist Podcast. You can read much more about him here.

  • I_Claudia

Took me 30 seconds to find three of them (yes I timed it, I’m that much of a nerd) and another 1.5 minutes of increasing frustration and suspicion before Hemant probably felt a ringing in his ears for some mysterious reason.

  • NiftyAtheist

This is awesome!  For a moment there I thought this was especially for me! :D

  • Annie

Silly me.  I googled “humanist Waldo”… just in case the humanist person graphic was for some reason named Waldo.  ;-)

    Too bright, hurts my eyes.

  • http://southernhumanist.wordpress.com/ R. Lee Bays

Ok, I don’t get it. What’s the deal with atheists and narwhals?

    • http://www.facebook.com/AnonymousBoy Larry Meredith

I had no idea what a narwhal even was until I googled it just now.

    • Pisk_A_Dausen

I vaguely remember something from a Pharyngula comment thread about the Narwhal Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykwqXuMPsoc) being PZ Myers’ theme song. That’s the only narwhal-atheist connection I can think of.

    • JohnnieCanuck

First heard of it only yesterday at WEIT. Fascinating post on them there, but why the putative affinity, I couldn’t say.

    • Cincinatheist

Hah, I clicked into the comments to ask the same thing. Where’s the narwhal-atheist connection that this avid atheist is missing? I mean, their horn/tooth is cool and all, but what gives?

    • http://annainca.blogspot.com/ Anna

Maybe they’re supposed to remind us of the IPU? They may be Her representatives on Earth. ;o)

  • James Reade

More important, why do atheists have the monopoly on pi, on science and on exploration?

    • JohnnieCanuck

Because the Bible gets all of them wrong? Pi equals three; insects have four legs and there is a mountain from the top of which, the whole world can be seen? Also the firmament is a dome above the atmosphere that has the stars embedded in it and above which is water?

Or were you speaking of theists that know which parts of the Bible can be ignored because they are just allegory?

      • James Reade

Er how exactly does the Bible get these things “wrong”?!  It doesn’t set out to answer these kinds of questions, it serves a completely different and complementary purpose to science.

Funnily enough, a great number of the brightest and best in science, shock horror, and and were Christians because of this lack of contradiction.

Why all the Asian “stuff”? I don’t put things on my walls that say “in god we trust”! NO, I don’t like this wall paper!

    • I_Claudia

Where does it say “In God we trust”? Look closer, it says “In GOOD we trust”. The “Asian stuff” is just the word “atheist” in Chinese. It’s also there in Russian. I imagine the creator wanted to represent the word in different alphabets.

  • The Other Weirdo

But I won’t put stuff on my desktop that I can’t read. That Asian text can say anything at all. How would I know?

You could…ask the artist? Do you think she has nefarious intent?
