Kicking Zombie Ass For Jesus

Filmmaker Israel Luna saw a really conspicuous gap in the movie canon: There are no zombie apocalypse movies that force a group of Bible Thumpers and a group of The Gays to work together to survive.  And he is filling that gap himself.  His Kickstarter campaign just launched!

What is Kicking Zombie Ass for Jesus (KZAFJ)?

Kicking Zombie Ass For Jesus is a full-length feature about a zombie apocalypse where the only survivors are gay people and church people. They find themselves barricaded in the same building and must decide to either continue fighting against each other or work together to strengthen their chance for survival; not to mention lots of action, zombies and gore!

Why This Movie Needs To Be Made:

This film was inspired by the flood of anti-gay, despicable, hate speech from churches, organizations and politicians. This bullying needs to stop! As filmmakers, we have a voice to fight back by creating a movie that faces these issues head on.

Maybe this movie isn’t going to be the thing that finally bridges the gap with a rainbow of understanding between the gay community and the religious folk who want to prevent them from having equal rights… and I’m also a bit dubious about the casting, but at the very least it should be entertaining!

After the wild success of the Kickstarter campaign for Bible Stories, I once again call on the Friendly Atheist community to find out more about this project, spread the word, and donate!

    Cute, but meh. This fellow makes the same mistake as a great many well intentioned liberal- if the religious people realized that homosexuals were people too they’d suddenly chine over to the right side. Maybe I’m jaded, but I’m not buying it- at least for the kind of mouth breather he is aiming for.

      Agree completely. Everyone thinks it’s simply a matter of education and exposure. It isn’t; this is who they are genetically programmed to be. It’s the reason they’re called “authoritarians”. (Altemeyer would probably say I’m taking liberties with his model, but I’m convinced it’s a funtion of neurophysiology.)

      A “realistic” outcome (I can’t believe I’m saying this) would be that the Christians would use the GBLT people to fight off the zombies, then immediately begin discriminating against them again. And if a few gay people were to die in the skirmish and go to hell – well, that would be okay. It’s where God wants them!

    I wouldn’t expect a lot out of these movie, but I might watch it if it is made. Either it will be so bad that it is good, just plain awful, or an ok movie.  To kind of go off on a tangent I like world war z as a zombie book because it does not say that all the hatred, misogyny, and bigotry would disappear when the zombies arise. Even when faced against an army of the dead people would still hold their prejudices. Plus in world war z a lot of idiots decided to go to the churches and barricaded themselves in. It does not end well.

       Yeah, The Zombie Survival Guide covered mosques, churches, and other temples. It wouldn’t be a bad place if it was abandoned, because of the heavy doors and such, but unless you’re in a ghost town, it will probably be full of potential Darwin Award winners.

      LOL, that’d be a real zinger for the movie…Jesus is head of the zombie pack and the Christians refuse to kill him, so they’re toast. Bye bye, Christians. That leaves the gays, who do the smart thing and kill the Jesus zombie. And all is well in the world.

    I’m more concerned with protecting the rights of LGBT folks legally than changing the way fundies think. That would be nice, but it’s a long row to hoe. Make it so they can’t oppress anyone, no matter what they think or believe.

    The zombie genre is my favorite and I really like the cheesy ones.  I will only watch this if the christians get eaten in the end.  I believe in zombies more than I do tolerant bible thumpers.

    I know Kickstarter isn’t supposed to be just about the thank you swag, but personally, I would be much more likely to kick in if I could get the DVD for under $100.

    That looks like something the gay community is going to love and the Christian community is going to peg as hateful propaganda.

    The Christians will be offended by the movie and the gays will be offended by the Christians taking offense.
