Seriously, Hemant, this s bloody ridiculous. You won’t even show a single picture as a whole post, but make me load a separate page then click through it, remember to delete it so sonethng useful doesn’t get opened over (ipad limits yo to 9 tabs). I am reading a lot fewer full posts on your blog, and hopefull that’s showing up in your revenue, because it’s jusy bloody rude and disresepctful to your readers.

Oh my. Having a bad day, are we?

    • Drew M.

      You should demand a refund.

    • amycas

Oh noze! Hemant provides you with a free blog to read with multiple daily updates and he has the audacity to ask that we click a link?

    • ImRike

Maybe you should try something better than an i-pad?

      • Kodie

I have something better than an ipad and I think the new formatting stinks too. Unfortunately, most of the atheist blogs are taking it up, which makes me less likely to want to read any of them. I know, you don’t need me, and don’t let the door slam on the way out. Honest feedback… I also tried to register on the forums but I never got my link, that was about 3 weeks ago. Why should people stay silent if they find the blog less convenient to read, and if it’s going fine for you, but why are people so nasty about it when someone doesn’t like it?

There’s a lot of spam to sift through so sometimes the forum registration marks emails as spam if it looks odd/unfamiliar. Just let me know what username or email address you used and we’ll verify it :)

          • Kodie

It’s not that important anymore. There is a thread there about the new format and I wanted to post that I don’t like it either, but since nobody has addressed that, it’s kind of a pointless place to register my opinion. I still don’t like it and I do look at the front page just to see if anything is interesting, but with the shortened previews, it’s easier to regard all of them as not interesting enough to click on and read them than to click on all the uninteresting ones I would have just scrolled past.

”why are people so nasty about it when someone doesn’t like it”

The person who started this thread used the name “Fuckyou” and then called Hemant rude and disrespectful to his readers for the mere act of wanting to get some payment for the work he puts into his blog. If you don’t like it, fine, but I don’t see clicking through as that big of a deal when the content of the site is provided for free.

Sympathy. You don’t seem to be getting very much of it.

Don’t tell me about the rest of your day.

    • Anonymous Atheist

“make me load a separate page”

= click one link on the home page, from either the post’s headline or the ‘read more’

      “then click through it,”

= um, scroll down, just as you’d do if posts were displayed in full on the home page?

“remember to delete it so sonethng useful doesn’t get opened over”

= close the tab, which you wouldn’t have to do if you didn’t choose to open the post links in new tabs instead of the same tab the home page was already in, and then use the ‘back’ button or ‘home’ link to return to the home page when you finish reading that post.

      • Fuckoff

Yes, and it takes a long time to load and reload the page each time, when you used to be able to scroll through most of a day’s postings. There is no reason for him to have made it so difficult to read short posts. It’s useful when a blog has a ton of pictures at high res, bower power should doit, for example. But when it’s just text and you’re often inserting the break a couple of lines before the end of the paragraph, it’s just rude. And yes, you lose readers because of it. Instead of reading something because its there, you are more likely not to bother opening a new page and thus not read whatever was written there.

        • coyotenose

“And yes, you lose readers because of it.”

Citation needed, since even people who are being overprivileged pricks about it are obviously still coming here and reading.

          • Kodie

I don’t read it anymore. I also notice less of a high count in most of the threads than before. Not a lot of some people seem to mind at all, so you assume nobody else does because they stopped reading instead of posting they don’t like it. What the fuck, you jump straight to attitude about “overprivileged pricks,” and that’s uncalled for nonsense. While I can overlook articles I don’t find interesting, looking at all the little blurbs and trying to figure out which ones are interesting and which ones are crap – like clicking a link to see it’s just a cartoon. If that’s how Hemant wants to run his blog, and for doing it, gets the nasty self-important people who shit on someone for having a problem navigating? That’s not a blog I would like anyway, so thanks for clearing that up.

            • Bryan

For the record, I don’t think Hemant has much control over the format of the blog: Patheos does. If you look at all the other Patheos atheist blogs (JT, Camels With Hammers, etc.), they’re all in the same format. I think you’d be better off addressing your complaints to the Patheos folks.
